IVN Nature Walk the Donge, ‘s Gravenmoer

The nature guides of IVN Mark & Donge will take you on a walk in and around 's Gravenmoer. This characterful village has a historical centre with old buildings and many waterways.

Information

Along the Donge you will discover a small-scale pasture landscape. Here, pollard willows and alders grow along the water, and oaks and beeches on the dikes. You will see old farms, often with their own little bridge to the road. You also walk through the Kerkebos, a park with special trees and stinze plants.

's Gravenmoer owes its name to the Count of Holland. In the past, there was a large peat bog here. The peat was excavated, after which the land was made suitable for pasture and hayfields. To drain the water, ditches and canals were dug. This created the long, narrow slanting landscape that is still visible today.

This landscape is home to a rich variety of plants and animals. During the walk, you will discover the nature in the village, along the Donge, and in the old hay meadows.

You can register up to the day itself. After registration, you will receive the starting point.
