IVN Insect Walk in Heusdenhout, Breda
Information
During the walk, participants will learn fun facts about insects. For example, flies can taste with their legs, dragonflies are strong predators, and ants and dung beetles carry enormous weights. Honey bees communicate via a “dance” telling others where flowers are.
Insects are indispensable: they pollinate plants, remove waste, and serve as food for other animals. They form the largest group of animals on Earth, with around 20,000 species in the Netherlands.
The trail is located at the sound barrier of Heusdenhout, a special area with wet and dry spots. This leads to a wide variety of plants and insects living there.
Registration for the walk is necessary and can be done up until the day of the walk. After registering, participants will receive information about the starting point. More information and the registration form can be found on the IVN Mark en Donge website. The walk starts at 13:30 and lasts until approximately 15:00/15:30.
