IVN Bird Walk - Boswachterij Dorst

Join the guides of IVN on this early walk and enjoy birdsong at dawn.

Information

From 10th to 18th May 2025, Vogelbescherming Nederland organises the fourteenth National Bird Week. During this period, various organisations across the country offer excursions. The activities are suitable for young and old, for (beginning) birdwatchers, and other nature enthusiasts.

The area near Dorst was centuries ago a bleak heath and sand dunes landscape. At the end of the 19th century, Staatsbosbeheer began planting trees to stabilise the sand. It has now become a beautiful nature reserve with shifting sand dunes, forests, and water features. This variety in the landscape makes it attractive for many different bird species.

The birdwatching group and the walking group of IVN Mark en Donge are combining their efforts to create a lovely walk. Experienced birdwatchers recognise their flying friends by their song or call and can tell you a lot about them. The guides of the walking group pay attention to trees, plants, and other animals we encounter.
