Installations & Expo - Grote Kerk Breda - TURF Live

What will Breda look like in the future? And what do people from Breda think is important for their city? During TURF, discover two interactive art installations in the Grote Kerk Breda, where your ideas and experiences take centre stage. Using art, technology and AI, you’ll look at Breda in a surprising way, both now and in the future.

Information

During TURF, artists Siyuan Hu and Leroy Rosenbrand (Cowabunga) present two interactive installations centred on the city of Breda. Both creators use artificial intelligence (AI) to make visitors’ ideas, experiences and wishes visible and audible.

Topofonie – Siyuan Hu

What makes Breda special to you? In the audiovisual installation Topofonie by artist and composer Siyuan Hu, the focus is on the personal stories of Breda’s residents. Memories, experiences and wishes for the future are translated, with the help of AI, into an audio map of the city .

This creates an ever-changing portrait of Breda, shaped by the people who live there. A unique way to experience the city through the eyes and ears of others.

De Stadsfabriek – Build Breda’s Tomorrow – Cowabunga

What should Breda look like in 2040? In De Stadsfabriek by Leroy Rosenbrand (Cowabunga), you decide what matters most to you for the city’s future.

Using physical buttons, you make choices about topics such as housing, green spaces and culture. AI then translates your choices into a personal vision of the future. Combined with the ideas of other visitors, this creates a picture of what Breda could look like tomorrow.

Extra on Friday 27 November - Expo: Makers x KOP & Kunstloc
What influence does AI have on the creative process of makers? And when is something created by a machine actually art?

During this exhibition, you’ll discover how various makers use generative AI in their work. Curator Gion Berlijn has selected makers who each explore the possibilities of AI in their own way. The makers themselves will be present to talk with you.
