<p>Through photography, moving image, text and sensory elements, Papenheim explores the connection between ecological degradation, rural identity and religious beliefs in Germany’s Sauerland region. The project emerged after a monoculture forest behind the artist’s childhood home died. In the forest’s recovery, Papenheim sees a reflection of their own search for identity and belonging.
