Het Gele Huis: Artist in Perspective

On three mornings in November, the work of two remarkable Scandinavian painters will be central: Helene Schjerfbeck and Edvard Munch. Both lived between 1860 and 1945, but attracted very different audiences: Munch became internationally famous, while Schjerfbeck remained underappreciated for a long time.

During this series, you will explore their lives, styles, and influence. You are invited to discover their works and backgrounds yourself, supported by visual materials, film clips, and a group discussion. On Thursday 13 November 2025, art historian Ella van Opstal will be present at Het Gele Huis to share her expert insights and help you ‘learn to see differently’.
