From Lounge to Heart Room

For Hartkamers the living rooms of newcomers and Bredanaars were transformed into photo studios. This resulted in an intimate portrait of buddies in the place where they feel at home – or attempt to.

The photos, taken by Gijsje Peetoom and Sabine van de Korput, show that a house is more than just a roof over your head. It is a place full of memories and stories. By meeting each other at home, new friendships are formed. Living rooms become heart rooms: places where people share joy and sorrow and get to know each other better.

The exhibition was made possible through a collaboration between Stedelijk Museum Breda, Buddy to Buddy, and Breda City Archive.
