Flodder (1986) - 35 mm special - Chassé Cinema
This comedy by Dick Maas about the most down-to-earth family in the Netherlands, the Flodder family, attracted over 2 million Dutch people to the cinema. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, we are screening the film on 35 mm, a projection method that has disappeared from almost all cinemas.
Information
Due to circumstances, the family must move to a villa in an upscale neighborhood. When Johnnie, the eldest brother, begins an affair with one of the neighbor women, it all goes awry. Flodder made Ma Flodder (an iconic role by Nelly Frijda), social worker Sjakie (Lou Landré), daughter Kees (Tatjana Simic), and Johnnie (Huub Stapel, later seen in the TV series Coen van Vrijberge de Coningh) archetypal Dutch comedy characters – cleverly mocking the generously subsidized welfare state support system.
