In 1983, President François Mitterrand launches an international architectural competition for the showcase of his presidency: the Grande Arche de la Défense, in line with the Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe. To everyone's surprise, the winner is the unknown Danish architect Otto von Spreckelsen. Suddenly, the 53-year-old architect finds himself in Paris, taking the lead on this enormous construction project. Although determined to realize his design, it quickly becomes clear that his vision clashes with the stubborn realities and whims of politics.
