Fairy tale exhibition HC Andersen | Nieuwe Veste

Step into the enchanting world of Hans Christian Andersen, translated into needle and thread. For the first time, this special exhibition has traveled from Denmark to the Netherlands.

124 artists from Denmark, the Netherlands, and other countries have brought Andersen's fairy tales to life through embroidery – from ‘The Little Mermaid’ to rare stories such as ‘The Tallow Candle’. In total, 174 different fairy tales have been interpreted by the embroiderers. Together, they form a colourful and touching exhibition about imagination, patience, and craftsmanship. For children, there is a treasure hunt along the fairy tales, and for those who wish to keep dreaming afterwards, the accompanying book is available at De Vrije Boekhandel in Breda.
