With an exhibition at the Stadsgalerij Breda, Frans van Veen celebrates his 50th anniversary as a visual artist.
Information
Frans van Veen (1950) is a Dutch artist who has held his own position within painting for over fifty years. He studied at the St. Joost Academy in Breda and the Royal Academy of Art and Design in ’s‑Hertogenbosch, where he laid the foundations for his later development.
In his early years, he worked in hyperrealism, but gradually his style shifted towards a more lyrical and expressive approach to landscape. Van Veen is known for his method of making pastel drawings outdoors in nature, which develop into powerful oil paintings in his studio. With exhibitions both nationally and internationally and awards such as the Royal Subsidy for Free Painting, he has built a long and versatile career.
