Dutch Bach Society & OPERA2DAY - The Opera Circus

The Opera Circus is a tribute to the grand master of dramatic music, Georg Friedrich Händel, and to the spectacle theatre of his time. Ancient theatre techniques, contemporary circus and Händel's music meld in a new libretto, allowing the magic of the baroque opera to shine again.

In this captivating story, two gods stand directly opposite each other, entangled in ancient feuds. In an apocalyptic landscape, they fight fiercely on, until the situation seems hopeless. Then a travelling circus troupe appears. Uninhibited, playful and confident, the young troupe knows how to set the world in motion again. Colour returns, love blossoms and a hopeful ending glimmers on the horizon.

After the successful productions Dangerous Liaisons and J.S. Bach – The Apocalypse, OPERA2DAY and the Dutch Bach Society are once again joining forces. The result: an original baroque spectacle bursting with imagination and theatrical magic.
