Delightful clear Handel", at MuziekSalon Spronk
Conclude the season of MuziekSalon Spronk with “Delightful Bright Handel”: a musical journey through the life and work of Georg Friedrich Handel, narrated and performed by Jetje van Wijk, with a special contribution from Kristina Kupryte on the Lithuanian Kanklès.
Information
Delightfully clear Handel", the final MuziekSalon Spronk of the season.
The music of Georg Friedrich Handel is like a refreshing, invigorating drink that immediately finds its way to your core. His multifaceted personality and interesting life journey, from church musician to Grand Seigneur, took him—and note, we are talking about the 17th century—from the provincial German town of Halle to Italy and after working there for three years, to London, where he managed to enter the highest circles. Drama and emotion, but also lightness characterise his impressive music.
Alongside the other great Baroque composer J.S. Bach, Handel holds his own, in a very unique way. Pianist Jetje van Wijk has searched for his most beautiful music and illustrates the story with a carefully chosen visual narrative.
The participation of Kristina Kupryte, player of the Kanklės, a Lithuanian stringed harp, on which she will perform Handel's harp concerto, is especially notable.
With delightful, complimentary snacks, we will conclude the successful 2024/2025 season.
20 May, at Mariëndal, Duivelsbruglaan 13, Breda.
22 May, at Het Gele Huis, Haagsemarkt 6 behind, Princenhage.
Doors open half an hour beforehand.
