Information
The Gouden Cirkel is a meeting place where engaged citizens, city officials, and other experts discuss the interests of the historic city as a cultural heritage, with attention to the dynamic developments of a contemporary, modern city.
City Society The Gouden Cirkel derives its name from a walking route, a promenade within the canals that takes the interested walker past a number of very distinctive, historic, and newly developed parts of the city: the Harbour, Havermarkt, Grote Markt, Houtmarkt, Kloosterplein, Schouwburgplein, Museumplein, and Van Coothplein. Since its founding in January 1996, the City Society The Gouden Cirkel has organised over 175 meetings.
The lecture begins at 20:00, and doors open half an hour earlier. The themes of the lectures or forum discussions generally have a cultural-historical background, but are placed within a contemporary framework wherever possible.
