Christian Kjellvander in MEZZ

The Swedish musician Christian Kjellvander creates music that he refers to as doom country: calm, dark, and full of emotion. His new album Ex Voto / The Silent Love was recorded live in an old summerhouse by the sea, where even the silence and the creaking of the floor became part of the sound.

The album deals with love, religion, nature, and beauty. Kjellvander sings with a deep voice and is accompanied by, among others, bass clarinet, cornet, Rhodes, synths, and female vocals. The atmosphere evokes the Swedish landscape, Nick Cave, and Leonard Cohen.
