About the film The Birdcage is a charming comedy based on the French classic La cage aux folles. Robin Williams and Nathan Lane shine as the couple Armand and Albert.&nbsp;Armand Goldman (Robin Williams) is the owner of The Birdcage, a nightclub in South Beach, Miami. He lives above the club with his partner Albert (Nathan Lane). He is the star act of The Birdcage, where he performs as drag queen Starina. Their lives are disrupted when Armand's son gets engaged to the daughter of the ultraconservative Senator Kevin Keeley (Gene Hackman).&nbsp;Keeley's political future is at risk due to a colleague's sex scandal, and he views the meeting with his prospective in-laws as a perfect escape from media attention.
