Chamber orchestra in the Waalse kerk

Kamerorkest Roosendaal performs a atmospheric and varied concert in the Waalse kerk.

Information

On Friday 28 November at 8:00 PM, the Roosendaal Chamber Orchestra will give a concert at the Waalse Kerk in Breda. The ensemble presents a varied programme that spans from Baroque music to works by contemporary composers. Well-known and lesser-known pieces alternate, including compositions by Vivaldi, Hasse, and Telemann.

A special part of the programme this time is dedicated to film music. You can enjoy, among others, Edelweiss from The Sound of Music, Maria from West Side Story, and Gabriel's Oboe by Ennio Morricone. Additionally, there is a atmospheric piece by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, in which you can let yourself be carried away by the sound.

The chamber orchestra consists of around ten string players and is conducted by Willem Damsteegt. Most of the orchestra members have received their musical education with this conductor, who is also a violin teacher. Some members still take lessons with him. During rehearsals, they work together to find an optimal tone colour, musical tension, and expression.

Anja van der Weegen enthusiastically provides commentary on the works performed. The ensemble regularly performs at the Waalse Kerk, a charming venue that is ideally suited for chamber music.

Admission to the concert is free. Afterwards, there is an opportunity to make a voluntary contribution. During the break and after the concert, you can enjoy a drink. Pre-registration is not necessary. The church opens its doors at 7:30 PM.
