About the film
Into the Wild is based on the best-selling book of the same name by outdoor journalist Jon Krakauer from 1996. This true story was powerfully adapted into a film by Sean Penn. Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) provided the acclaimed soundtrack. The 22-year-old, newly graduated Christopher McCandless leaves his family and a promising future behind in search of adventure. 

Without material possessions, away from the pitfalls of the modern world, he tries to find his way in the wilderness of Alaska. Special encounters and the treacherous force and beauty of nature shape his existence. But can he survive?
