Director and lead actor Roberto Benigni brought a unique combination of tragedy and comedy to the big screen with La vita è bella (1997). The film won no less than three Oscars, including Best Foreign Language Film, Best Actor, and Best Original Score, as well as the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
About La vita è bella
The story follows Guido, an optimistic and imaginative man, who falls in love with Dora and starts a happy family with her. When World War II intrudes on their lives and he is deported along with his wife and son, Guido uses humour and imagination to protect his child from the terrifying reality of the concentration camp.
With a perfect balance between lightness and deep emotion, La vita è bella remains one of the most beloved films of all time.
