Bike Tour to Regte Heide | Gilde De Baronie

The Regte Heide, together with the Riels Hoefke, Halve Maan, Ooijevaarsnest, and Nieuwkerk, forms a continuous nature reserve covering 876 hectares, consisting of heathland, a marshy stream valley, deciduous and coniferous forests.

It is situated in the municipality of Goirle, on the border with Belgium. The Regte Heide itself is 250 hectares in size, and there are seven lovely and clearly visible burial mounds from the Middle Bronze Age (2000-700 BC).

During the Second World War, the Riels Hoefke served as a dummy airfield where a few bomb craters can still be seen.
