Bike tour to Drimmelen with Gilde De Baronie

Along the Hartel, Terheijden, a corner of Wagenberg, Blauwe Sluis and Lage Zwaluwe, the guides of Gilde De Baronie cycle towards Oud-Drimmelen and Drimmelen, the furthest point on this route. 
From there, the journey continues via Hooge Zwaluwe, Helkant, Wagenberg and Terheijden back to Breda. 

The villages in this area generally originated on elevations in the landscape, so-called till ridges. It is an area that was exposed to the influence of water and wind and was repeatedly ravaged by flooding. It makes sense that people settled there where the chances of keeping dry feet were greatest. The area you pass through also lay on the border between the County of Holland and the Duchy of Brabant, where, besides the role of our current royal ancestors, the enormous influence of Willem van Duvenvoorde, the ‘Bill Gates’ of the Middle Ages, especially captures the imagination.
