The chosen title for this bike ride refers to some locations encountered along the way: Jagersrust in Schijf and Bosrust in Horendonk (Essen).
Rust refers to the peat bog in the surroundings of Rucphen and Horendonk, which has been mined since the Middle Ages to extract turf. The subsoil of this peat bog contains iron oxide in several places in the form of reddish-brown blobs in the ground and along waterways. Some waterways are still brown/orange in color: a 'rusty' sight indeed. So, you will be searching for 'peace' and 'rust', all under the enthusiastic guidance of our passionate bike guides.
