Benefit concert for international youth exchange at Poppodium Phoenix
Information
United Tunes brings young people together to make music, attend workshops, write their own songs, and engage in conversations. The project encourages meeting and collaboration between different cultures. At a time when young people increasingly face pressure to perform, digitalization, and societal tensions, United Tunes offers this exchange as a valuable environment for genuine connection, personal growth, and broadening perspectives.
The benefit concert marks an important step towards the 2026 edition. The proceeds will keep participation accessible for young people and give the project a fresh boost.
One of the artists on the programme is Kees Schipper. This blues veteran has been performing since 1968 and is known for his raw guitar playing and soulful voice. He brings music in the tradition of bands like Led Zeppelin and Fleetwood Mac, with his own twist. Throughout his career, he has played with renowned musicians, including Jan Akkerman and Robben Ford. Kees Schipper is closely connected to the project: he was involved in the founding of United Tunes and has been active from the start as an organiser, music teacher, and facilitator.
Jan Loomans also volunteers wholeheartedly for this benefit concert. As an experienced live musician, he has a broad musical background. His repertoire includes classics from the ’60s to ’90s and his own work. International exchange in 2026 The next edition of United Tunes is scheduled for 2026 and will bring together young people from North Brabant and the East German region of Sachsen-Anhalt. The project offers participants the chance to make music together and learn about each other's cultures. With United Tunes in Concert, not only is a musical afternoon offered, but tangible investment is also made in an initiative that has inspired and connected young people for decades.
The doors open from 15:00, and the concert starts at 16:00. From 18:00 onwards, the weekly Sunday Jam Session begins, during which it is also possible to buy dinner.
