Information

The Toll Bridge in the centre of Breda is a special place with a rich history. The bridge dates back to 1225 and originally connected Breda with Princenhage. It was part of important trade routes between Bergen op Zoom and Nijmegen, and between Flanders and Holland. By levying tolls, the bridge became a significant source of income for Breda. In 2025, the Toll Bridge was renovated so that boats can once again pass beneath it. Today, it forms a charming passage between the historic centre and the revamped waterfront.
