Nieuwe Mark

De Nieuwe Mark brings cooling, nature, and water back to the city centre of Breda. Thanks to innovative quay walls, greenery is literally growing out of the city wall here, a step towards Breda as the City in the Park.

The Nieuwe Mark brings more nature and water into the city centre. This provides cooling, beautification, and greening. The material of the quay walls allows plants to easily take root and grow. Also innovative are the horizontally cultivated trees planted in the quay walls. With these ‘GreenQuays’, Breda is one step closer to its ambition to become City in the Park.  

Across the water, old and new seamlessly merge. The tower of the Marquant apartment complex aligns beautifully with the former chapel that now belongs to Hotel Nassau Breda.
