Original description:
''Evolutie' symbolises the transition from the old to the new. Niels Lous is very pleased with the location of the work on Graaf Hendrik III laan, as you drive here from the new part of the city with the tall flats towards the old city centre and vice versa. From the car, you see a huge bronze windmill that could come to life at any moment. The slightly tilted base of the sculpture enhances that feeling of dynamism. Viewed from another angle, you notice more angular geometric shapes that seem to be breaking free from a round egg shape.
Niels Lous (Breda 1939, lives and works in Oosterhout) studied at the Academie Sint Joost in Breda. Since then, he regularly works on commission for municipalities and private individuals. He uses a variety of materials such as bronze, corten steel, stainless steel, and polyester. The development of time and space often plays a role in his work: sculptures of highly stylised budding cells or blooming flowers, a sun agent or a tree of life question the mystery of life.
