Artwork: Aardboom, 1988

A piece of art by Nick Visser. This artwork is a metal sculpture. It features three large, rust-coloured rings that together form a circle and rest on a standing, cylindrical base.

Corten steel, 2 m high

Original description :
This stylistic representation of a tree was initially located at the children's farm on Wolfslaardreef. It was a gift from the artist to Ed Nijpels, then the minister of, among other things, Environmental Management. With a tree weighing two hundred and twenty kilos of steel, Nick Visser wanted to share his concern for the environment with the minister as early as the late eighties. In the crown of the tree, you can also recognize a globe. With this, the artist seems to express that the earth and every individual tree are inextricably linked. The shape is hollow and rusted, as a sign of the decay that has already set in.

In April 2016, the work was moved to the front of the children's farm and in May 2019 it was permanently relocated to the playground in Boeimeerpark.

Nick Visser (Velsen 1948) has not left any traces in the art world apart from this sculpture.

The photos were taken by Jeroen van Eijndhoven.
