Voorbos Nature Walk in Ulvenhout – Gilde Breda

The Ulvenhout Voorbos, part of Natura 2000, is a woodland with exceptional natural value. It is a true ancient oak and beech wood, characteristic of wet woodland with a stream and seepage water. To preserve its rich woodland flora and biodiversity, work is currently under way to restore water levels and improve the seepage flow. A clay screen is being constructed, and work is taking place to strip the topsoil from the valley along the Broekloop. Parts of the woodland and the Broekloop are being made shallower. In addition, measures are being taken to reduce nitrogen levels. Staatsbosbeheer is also actively carrying out woodland maintenance. The new planting consists of deciduous trees such as hornbeam, hazel, lime, oak and sweet cherry.
