Uit je Dak!

On October 10, World Homeless Day, we pause to reflect on a striking reality: more than 1,000 people in Breda are living without a home. What does it feel like to have no place to come home to? What stigmas exist? And what happens when we truly listen?

Under the artistic direction of KOP, professional artists Goretti Pombo, Elvis Chen, Lize Maekelberg, and theatre maker Juup Luijten are collaborating with the artists of Uit je Dak! to bring the stories of people experiencing homelessness to life. Through a series of workshops at The Salvation Army’s daytime activity center and with the theatre group of SMO Breda and surrounding areas, they are creating a theatre performance and an exhibition that give voice and form to these stories.

On October 10, everything comes together at Podium BLOOS. Experience a special evening featuring theatre, an exhibition, and a shared dinner. Vanessa van Egeren will guide you through the evening. At the age of sixteen, she ended up in prostitution, and at the lowest point in her life she was battling addiction and working the streets along Europalaan. At the time, no one believed that her pregnancy would mark the beginning of a completely new life.

An evening that moves, connects, and invites us to look at homelessness and housing insecurity from a different perspective.
