Tour de Baronie with Guild De Baronie

Gilde De Baronie visits the old fortress town of Heusden with this long cycling tour. 

On the way there, you pass the Overdiepse Polder, where the project Room for the River has been implemented to accommodate extremely high river water levels in the future. The farms here are situated on dunes.

Afterwards, you continue cycling along the Bergse Maas and enjoy the beautiful, wide polder landscape. Along the way, you cross twice by pontoon. In Heusden, you eat your sandwiches and take a city tour of the stunning fortress town.

Next, you head via the Elshoutse Wielen and the old Zeedijk towards the Baardwijkse Overlaat, a magnificent nature reserve that has been plagued by destructive river water for centuries. Evidence of this is still clearly visible.

You cycle over the former railway bridge of the Halve Zolenlijntje and then pass via the Drongels Canal and the forested surroundings of the Loonse Dunes to head home again.
