The Seating Table + Film: Los Domingos

Not in the mood to cook for yourself? Would you like an enjoyable conversation during dinner? And would you like to watch a nice film afterwards? During the monthly Aanschuiftafel, the tables in the Filmcafé are brought together so everyone can join in to enjoy a delicious meal. Chef Pol provides a 'cinema plat du jour plus dessert' and afterwards, it’s time for the film.

This time, the film Los Domingos is on the program:

Seventeen-year-old Ainara is an intelligent and idealistic young woman who lost her mother at a young age. Like her devout mother and other family members, she attends a Christian school. Everyone around her expects her to go to university, but she herself seems more drawn to a contemplative life as a nun. 

When Ainara tells her family that she is considering entering a convent, it provokes a range of reactions. Her father has his doubts, but above all wants to support his daughter. Her atheist aunt Maite believes her niece is on the verge of throwing her life away. Does she really want this, or has she been influenced by the spiritual guidance of her school?

The film was a huge success in Spain, winning no fewer than five Goya Awards
