The Kik, the band of Dave von Raven, is back with a new album and the new hit single 'Daggie Niet Gelachen'. The cheerful song is an ode to life and togetherness. It refers to the wise lessons that Von Raven received from his grandmother and it could be said to be Dave's anthem. "A day without laughter is a day not lived." Their new album ‘Bal Populaire’ was released on 29 March by Excelsior Recordings. Love, death, and the temptations that are difficult to resist are the universal themes that frontman Dave von Raven brings to life on this album. It is a collection of life songs for which von Raven has written nearly all the lyrics and music himself for the first time. ‘Bal Populaire’ reflects von Raven's love for the Dutch life song. The new songs are full of classic imagery: think of the café on the corner, the wise lessons from grandparents, memories of times gone by, and the allure of that one special person.The Kik show their respect for the old guard of Dutch song, while von Raven puts his own stamp on it. ‘Bal Populaire’ opens the door for a new generation to become acquainted with the original Dutch tradition of the life song.
