Explore Breda Store

June brings not only sunshine and holidays but also Pride Month – a month in which we commemorate the Stonewall Riots of 1969. These protests, led by activists such as Marsha P. Johnson, were a turning point in the LGBTQ+ rights movement. Pride began as a protest and it still is.BO Diversity is working towards a society where gender equality is the norm. They focus on gender emancipation, sexuality &amp; intimacy, and sexism, exploring intersections and challenging entrenched norms. Eight years ago, they started on a picnic bench at BUas here in Breda; now they are active throughout the country.With this exhibition, the audience is invited to look beyond the norm. After all, norms are not necessarily bad, but can also be limiting. Besides various works by BO Diversity, the exhibition also features COC Breda-Tilburg's new book “Five centuries of queer Breda” and images from the accompanying exhibition by maker Nielo Schurs. Besides celebrating during Pride, we hope to learn something together.

In the Explore Breda Store, you can discover stories of local initiatives through exhibitions and other activities. Together with partners from the city, we tell the Story of Breda: we are a limitless, green, and hospitable city. The content of this platform changes regularly, allowing space for cultural partners to educational institutions. From 28 May, you can explore the exhibition 'Bo Diversity'.
