Information
Let yourself be surprised by boundary-pushing sounds from Europe. The music during Sound of Europe cannot be confined to a single genre, but instead comprises a surprising mix of styles. This year, the Sound of Europe Festival is extending to no less than five days.
FRIDAY 9 OCTOBER
Kapelzaal Holland Casino (18+), Kloosterplein
- 19:30 hrs: Libérica (ES)
Libérica weaves Catalan folk music, flamenco, and jazz together into something that sounds like an discovery and a homecoming at the same time. - 21:45 hrs: World Groove Collective (INT)
The Dutch jazz quintet The World Groove Collective combines jazz tradition with rhythms from Africa and South America into music you can feel physically.
SATURDAY 10 OCTOBER

The young jazz pianist Omar Soliman from Eindhoven bridges the rich tradition of jazz with a contemporary approach and presents his compositions in a special new ensemble for this occasion. - 16:30 hrs: Generation Next | Mare Meijer (NL)
Mare Meijer creates Dutch-language music and combines folk, jazz, and South American rhythms with her guitar, stunning voice, and international band.

Jasper Høiby's 3Elements delivers jazz music that moves quickly and hits hard.

The Dutch quartet WAAN combines jazz improvisation with electronic textures, dancefloor energy, and an uninhibited vibe you wouldn’t expect.

Josefine Opsahl is a cellist, composer, and boundary-pusher all in one. She moves effortlessly between contemporary classical music, opera, and performance, always seeking what is not yet there. - 16:30 hrs: Céline Bonacina (FR)
Céline Bonacina plays baritone saxophone like few others: full of energy, full of emotion, and always seeking the connection between continents. With her quartet Jump! she creates a transatlantic dialogue between European jazz and the America of her youth.
