RONKER struggles with growing pains; what do you do when you just can't outgrow skirting the edges? "Drop a no-nonsense high-impact record!" must have been what the band thought. An ode to the edge-walkers in society, where there is no search for the Jesus among the marginalised, but where solace is found in self-acceptance.'Fear is a Funny Thing Now Smile Like a Big Boy' or in short FIAFTNSLABB (pronounced Fiaftensjleub) is not only an ode to celebrating naivety, the record is deliberately kept very raw and playful. The band plays a kind of duplo-metal where simplicity and a wide colour palette are chosen. Where RONKER's anger used to be internal, it is now much more extroverted and outspoken. Self-hatred has given way to fear of growing up.On their debut album, the band sounds hungry, nervous and revels in its bipolar nature: the nonchalance of post-punk and the solid character of 90s alt-metal both contribute equally to their DNA. In their brew where chunks of hardcore are mixed with noise, indie, prog and punk, no house is sacred anymore.

With their state-of-the-art speednoise, they travelled through the underground, clubs, and festivals in the Benelux for two years, building a strong live reputation. Energetic, angry, and focused on connection.
