New Model Army at MEZZ
Information
New Model Army is now in their fifth decade and shows no signs of slowing down. Their poetic, politically charged songs are rooted in folk, punk, rock, and metal.
About the Band
The band, formed in 1980 in Bradford, emerged as a response to the politics of Downing Street and the issues faced by the working classes. The 1970s and early 1980s in England were marked by economic decline and social unrest. Margaret Thatcher's policies were polarising, and the working class faced oppression. Resistance was necessary.
Named after the revolutionary army of Oliver Cromwell, they have been inspiring diverse generations with their live performances and recordings since the 1980s. Their most recent album, ‘Unbroken,’ released in early 2024, was mixed by none other than Tchad Blake, known for his work with The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, and Peter Gabriel.
