With his many years of experience and infectious enthusiasm, Lex Wiersma has conducted numerous operas. His deep knowledge and love for the genre make him a captivating storyteller who knows better than anyone how to bring music to life. 

During his presentation, Wiersma starts with the origins of opera and demonstrates how this rich art form has evolved over the centuries. Opera is, after all, an ultimate dream for almost every composer: a fusion of music, drama, singing, and emotion, where everything comes together. 

The most beautiful arias
Using carefully selected fragments, visitors are taken on a journey through the most beautiful arias and most impressive choral pieces – from the earliest operas to works from later periods. Listening, experiencing, and understanding are central to this musical discovery. 

This MusikSalon promises an inspiring and accessible musical experience for both enthusiasts and newcomers to the world of opera. 

'Opera in all its facets' takes place twice:

  • Thursday 18 June 20:15 - 21:45: ‘The Yellow House’, Haagse Markt 6 behind, Princenhage. 

Doors open half an hour beforehand.
