“The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha” is written by the Spaniard Miquel Cervantes. It is one of the first written novels in a modern European language. Published in 1605, a second part followed in 1615 due to the great success of the book. As is often the case with books that stand the test of time, this book also has a deep underlying layer beneath its comedic moments.

 

After an introduction about the book and the author by Jetje van Wijk, a beautiful film adaptation of this special book will be shown, with live music performed by Rogier de Pijper on flute, Astrid Schijns on cello, and Jetje van Wijk on piano. 

Doors open half an hour before the start.

 

After the performance, you will have the opportunity to discuss the book and music under expert guidance for half an hour in the art books section of the library. You are all warmly invited to join us for this.
