Monteverdi’s Vespers: Vespers in Motion

Especially for the concerts, a new arrangement has been created for choir, soloists, trombone quartet, saxophone quartet and continuo. The trombones are copies of authentic Renaissance instruments, while the saxophones provide a modern sound. In this way, old and new come together in a single performance.

Dance also plays an important role. Dance group In10ce from Etten-Leur has created a contemporary choreography for various sections of the Vespers of the Blessed Virgin. Six dancers translate the music into movement, highlighting, among other things, the rhythm, emotions and changes in Monteverdi's music.
