Loma + Shearwater + Any Kind in MEZZ

It seems that Loma, Shearwater, and Any Kind are almost destined to go on tour together. Loma and Shearwater both feature songwriter Jonathan Meiburg and engineer/producer Dan Duszynski, both are rooted in Austin, and both are signed to Sub Pop Records from Seattle. In addition to being members of Loma and Shearwater, Dan Duszynski can also be seen on stage as Any Kind. He opens the evening with his solo project. 

Loma
The calm and enveloping voice of Emily Cross is the heart of Loma. Standing alongside Emily are Jonathan Meiburg and Dan Duszynski. Their debut album, ‘Loma,’ was released in 2018, followed by ‘Don’t Shy Away’ in 2020 and ‘How Will I Live Without A Body?’ in 2023. Loma's music is intriguing and subtly intense. Meiburg describes the band's songwriting process as akin to a Ouija board, with the songs emerging slowly on their own. 

Shearwater
Under the direction of Jonathan Meiburg, Shearwater’s songs range from delicate, vulnerable melodies to large, imposing sounds. The music balances at the threshold of happiness and melancholy, hope and rage. The band has toured with artists such as St. Vincent and Coldplay. Their latest album, The New World, will be released on 31 July. 

Any Kind
Dan Duszynski is not only a member of Loma and Shearwater but also performs on stage with his solo project Any Kind. He creates danceable indie rock, clearly showing his skills as a studio engineer/producer. With expansive soundscapes and surprising noises, he makes music suitable for dancing and attentive listening.
