The protagonist is Prince Myshkin, a person who is good and gentle in every respect. Upon returning to St Petersburg, after being cared for in a sanatorium in Switzerland for four years, he is immediately confronted with the intense passions of people for whom everything is determined by career, status, rank and money. Can unconditional goodness survive in a corrupt, materialistic world? A unique book.
