Lecture: The Work of Marc Chagall
On Wednesday evening, 23 September 2026, Herman Teerhöfer will give an engaging talk at Het Gele Huis in Princenhage about the work of Marc Chagall. Using a selection of works, he will show how themes such as peace, love and tolerance play an important role in Chagall’s art.

Herman Teerhöfer tells a personal story, as he is friends with the priest who ensured that Marc Chagall’s stained-glass windows can now be admired by everyone in St Stephen’s Church in Mainz. In addition, around twenty paintings from Chagall’s long career are on display. Below are five paintings on the Song of Songs and several other biblical paintings from the Musée National Marc Chagall in Nice.
