How many artists can claim that they were not just once but twice headliners at Glastonbury, in the same weekend? The psychedelic rock band Kula Shaker broke through in 1996 with hits such as ‘Hush’, ‘Govinda’ and ‘Grateful When You’re Dead’. The original members are still the best of friends and released their latest album, ‘Wormslayer’, earlier this year.
In November, they come to MEZZ! Kula Shaker is named after the ninth-century Indian saint, king and poet Kulasekhara Alwar. Their debut album ‘K’ was released in 1996, becoming one of the best-selling British releases and one of the most successful debuts. The band has a series of Top 10 singles, opened Oasis’s Knebworth shows, and toured with Aerosmith.
