IVN Mark en Donge: Nacht van de Nacht at Landgoed Wolfslaar

The activity takes place at Landgoed Wolfslaar in Breda, in collaboration with Kinderboerderij Wolfslaar.

In the Netherlands, many lights are left on in the evenings: in towns and cities, along roads and at buildings. This feels safe, but it also has disadvantages. Too much light disrupts nature and wastes energy unnecessarily. People and animals need darkness to rest. That is why hundreds of local authorities and businesses switch off extra lights on this night. The motto is: “Lights off, senses on”.

During De Nacht van de Nacht, IVN Mark en Donge organises a special walk in the dark. Nature guides lead small groups along various locations (stations) on the estate. At each station, experts talk about the night. You discover what nature sounds and feels like in the dark. What can you hear? What is moving in the undergrowth? The walk is exciting and beautiful, for adults and children alike. There are also new elements, so anyone who took part before will discover something new this year.

Before and after the walk, there is plenty to do on the grounds of Kinderboerderij Wolfslaar. At the IVN stall, you can view objects from nature. Children can play a game. Staff from the hedgehog rescue centre talk about hedgehogs, animals that are mainly active at night. More surprises are planned, which will remain a secret for now.

Registration for the walk is required and is possible up to and including the day of the walk. Clearly state which departure time you choose. After registering, you will receive information about the departure point. The participation fee is € 5,00 per person, payable when registering online. The confirmation email is the proof of payment that you must be able to show at the entrance. Each participant must therefore register separately.
