Isolde Lasoen at MEZZ

For more than ten years, Isolde Lasoen has combined drums and lead vocals with a distinctive style. Her music can be described as pop, cinematic, melancholic, rich and eclectic. Together with talented musicians, Isolde has built up a strong live reputation.

Information

She draws inspiration from iconic and obscure soundtracks, 1960s and 1970s psychedelia, baroque pop, French Touch and bombastic symphonic music. Isolde has been playing drums with DAAN for half her life and has worked with numerous bands and artists, including Absynthe Minded, Agnes Obel, Novastar, Sophia, Raymond van het Groenewoud, Urbanus, Jack Parrow and many others. Her third solo album, ‘My Kind of Drama’, leans towards electronica, with her love of French touch coming through more strongly: more synths, unexpected chord progressions and a modern, glossy production. The album is about self-knowledge, delving deeper into your past and taking stock. Love is present too; it is an album that celebrates emotion in all its shades. An album on which Isolde gives herself all the space she needs, sans gêne.
