From living room to heart room The idea for Heart Rooms began with a simple question: may I come in for a look? The living rooms of newcomers and people from Breda provide the setting for these portraits. The result is an intimate picture of buddies in the place where they feel at home – or are trying to.

The photographs, taken by Gijsje Peetoom and Sabine van de Korput, show that a home is more than just a roof over your head. It is a place full of memories and stories. Meeting each other at home leads to new friendships. Living rooms become heart rooms: places where people share the joys and sorrows of life and come to understand each other better

The exhibition was created through a collaboration between Stedelijk Museum Breda, Buddy to Buddy and Breda City Archives.
