Halloween at Chassé Cinema: Corpse Bride

The movie:
Victor is nervous about his wedding to Victoria. But when the clumsy Victor practises his vows outside in the dark and slips the ring onto a twig, he suddenly finds himself married to a charming, lively bride who has been dead for some time. He is whisked away to the underworld, while his true bride Victoria waits for him in the Land of the Living. Although life in the Land of the Dead turns out to be far more colourful than his strict Victorian upbringing, Victor learns that there is nothing in this world or the next that can keep him from his one true love.

This spooky stop-motion animated film was made by the team behind The Nightmare Before Christmas. Featuring the voices of Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Emily Watson.

Film expert Tamino Parren briefly talks about the film Corpse Bride, followed by a video about Tim Burton and his work. The film will be presented using the old-fashioned 35 mm format. This method of projection has disappeared from virtually all cinemas. Chassé is one of the few places in the Netherlands where a working 35 mm projector can still be found.
