Gamehearts: Games, Heritage, Arts & Cultural Collaboration
Information
Games are about much more than entertainment. They offer new ways to tell stories, bring cultural heritage to life and connect people. But how can the games industry and cultural organisations work together towards a sustainable future?
This question takes centre stage during GAMEHEARTS, part of Dutch Game Week 2026. On Thursday 19 November, Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) is hosting an international conference day exploring the connection between games, art, heritage and the wider creative industries.
Discover the possibilities of cultural collaboration
The programme includes a keynote by a guest speaker, research presentations on games and cultural collaboration, a panel discussion and plenty of opportunities to exchange knowledge and ideas. You can also try out a playable demo resulting from the collaboration within the project.
GAMEHEARTS is a European research project exploring the economic, social and cultural value of the games industry. Five European universities are working with cultural organisations, including the Imperial War Museums and the London Symphony Orchestra, as well as game developer Ubisoft.
The conference is relevant to game developers, creative professionals, cultural organisations, policymakers, educators and researchers. It is also open to anyone curious about the possibilities of games within art and culture.
Attendance is free, but advance registration is required.
