Exhibition “Catalogue raisonné”

Jan Cornelis Moll (Teteringen 1915 – Breda 2004) earned his living as a house painter. Together with his brother Koos, he continued working in the family business well into old age. During the evenings and on Sundays, he created an extensive and surprisingly high-quality body of work comprising watercolours, drawings, oil paintings, still lifes and religious scenes. After his death, a large quantity of work of exceptional quality was discovered in the family home on Teteringsedijk. In 2006, the family established the Jan C. Moll Foundation to keep this artistic legacy together, manage and conserve it, and bring it to the public’s attention. All aspects of his oeuvre have been highlighted at various locations in and around Breda. With this retrospective exhibition at Park Zuiderhout, the foundation arrives at a definitive expression of the vision it has upheld from the outset: to give Jan C. Moll’s work the attention and appreciation it deserves.

The foundation is pulling out all the stops one more time with a retrospective exhibition focusing on the strongest aspects of Jan’s output. In a semi-museum setting, due justice is done to the cultural and cultural-historical value of his work. The presentation also provides insight into the development of his oeuvre over the years (catalogue raisonné). The location was not chosen by chance: his niece Marijke Canjels-Snelders has lived at the Park Zuiderhout residential care organisation since February 2024.

The exhibition opens on Sunday 20th of September at 15:00. After that the exhibition will be open everyday until the 31st of October from 9:00 until 17:00.
