BATMOBILE vs. KLINGONZ: Halloween Party

BATMOBILE – Breda/Rotterdam, since 1983

Batmobile hardly needs an introduction, but the story behind this legendary psychobilly band is too good to skip. In 1983, eighteen-year-old Johnny Zuidhof asked his classmate and Elvis fan Jeroen Haamers to start a rockabilly band together. Jeroen’s older brother Eric soon joined them, swapping his guitar for a double bass.

What began with covers of Elvis and Johnny Burnette, combined with a hefty dose of punk energy, grew into a sound of their own: short, hard-hitting and without any fuss. Their 1985 debut album set the tone. In 1986, Batmobile became the first non-British band to perform at London’s legendary Klub Foot, the psychobilly mecca.

Tours of Europe, Japan, Russia, Brazil and the United States followed. Batmobile grew into one of the genre’s most influential bands. More than forty years later, the original line-up is still taking to the stage. Expect a hefty dose of rock ’n’ roll and a performance you’ll still feel for days afterwards!

KLINGONZ – UK/Mars, since 1988

Klingonz have been making Earth unsafe since 1988. According to the band, they landed at Klub Foot in London—the temple of psychobilly—from Mars in a spaceship. Their mission? To conquer the world!

They did a pretty good job of it by completely disregarding the traditional rules of psychobilly. While other bands drew inspiration from horror films, Klingonz opted, for example, for a completely bonkers tribute to Roald Dahl’s Oompa-Loompas.

With a mix of rockabilly, punk and completely absurd lyrics, the band built up a cult status that has endured for decades. Afraid of clowns? Then things are about to get exciting. A fan of deranged clowns who also happen to play incredibly well? Then you don't want to miss Klingonz!

Support: MINDFUCKS (NL) – since 2019

MindFucks describe their music as ‘psychobilly with a raw, murderous edge’. From murder and stalking to voodoo: no subject is too dark for a catchy track.

Inspired by bands such as The Meteors, Demented Are Go and Godless Wicked Creeps, MindFucks have previously shared the stage with acts including The Exploited, Cock Sparrer and Discipline. During this Halloween edition, the band will provide a dark opening to the evening!
